KLYDE WARREN PARK GRAND OPENING

THE CHALLENGE:
The launch of Dallas’ new “front lawn,” Klyde Warren Park, was two-tiered. First, a donor dinner was planned for the Great Lawn as a thank you to the hundreds of donors who had helped raise the $90 million needed to build the area’s first deck park. Second, a sprawling weekend of activities, culminating in a concert and full downtown fireworks show, would herald the 5.2 acres green space as a true family-friendly attraction and bridge between Uptown and Downtown. The Grand Opening Celebration budget of $2 million was raised via local business supporters, and with Dallas’ own Owen Wilson serving as the Honorary Chair, the weekend was planned with style.

“Tony Fay and Kit Sawers helped put Klyde Warren Park on the map, literally, with an opening weekend that far exceeded expectations. It really gave us the boost of awareness we needed.”

-- TARA GREEN, PRESIDENT OF KLYDE WARREN PARK

The Result

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra, fronted by vocalist Jackie Evancho, provided an elegant mood for the donor dinner, while the Polyphonic Spree and Trumbone Shorty & Orleans Avenue put on an electric show that packed more than 10,000 on to the Great Lawn. Overall, more than 50,000 visited Klyde Warren Park to take part in the Grand Opening Celebration.

Tony Fay Public Relations continues its relationship with the park, providing social media services and working on a variety of special projects.
